Trump Warns Iran: Sign Deal or Lose Power Plants and Bridges

US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday, July 28, that talks with Iran are ongoing and “going well,” while reiterating a warning that, if negotiations fail, the US will target key Iranian infrastructure, including “Kolang Mountain,” major bridges, and power plants.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said he would prefer not to take such action but emphasized that, if Tehran fails to reach an agreement, Washington could destroy a significant portion of Iran’s vital infrastructure within a short period.

“I could knock out all their power plants in one day,” he said. “About 91 million people would be left without electricity and without bridges. But if I can avoid doing that, I’d prefer for it not to happen.”

The US president also warned that most of Iran’s major bridges could be destroyed “in under two hours,” adding that officials of the Islamic Republic are well aware that the threat will be carried out if no agreement is reached.

Referring to a memorandum signed between Tehran and Washington in May, which he noted had nearly collapsed during the conflict in July, Trump asserted that the US would no longer allow Iran to violate agreements.

Trump: I Don’t Need Netanyahu’s Intelligence on “Kolang Mountain”

Set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House hours later, Trump addressed the facility known as “Kolang Mountain” (Kuh-e Kolang), or “Kolang Gazla,” in another part of the interview.

Asked whether Netanyahu planned to discuss activities at the nuclear site during Tuesday’s meeting, Trump replied: “Bibi doesn’t need to tell me about this. He brings it up because he wants me to stay involved in this matter.”

Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with the public disclosure of information regarding the site, saying: “Why shouldn’t he just tell me? Why does the whole world have to know about it?”

The US president emphasized that he was fully informed about the status of the facility, adding: “It’s not a big deal. We knocked out their nuclear facilities, and if a deal isn’t reached, we’ll target Kolang Mountain too. If they don’t reach an agreement, we’ll destroy it very easily.”

Trump further claimed that the US had safeguarded Israel’s security by halting the Islamic Republic’s nuclear programme, stating: “If I weren’t president today, Israel would no longer exist.”

The facility known as “Kolang Mountain” is located deep underground near the Natanz nuclear complex. During last year’s 12-day war, the US launched extensive strikes against nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, and inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have lacked access to these sites ever since.
