Troops return from Benin Republic after peace mission

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has commended troops of Operation ATILEYIN ALAFIA II for their professionalism during their deployment to the Republic of Benin.

Babalola spoke while receiving the returning troops at the 243 Reconnaissance Battalion Parade Ground, Ibereko Barracks, Badagry, Lagos, on Wednesday, according to a statement by Lt.-Col. Musa Yahaya.

He said the troops had upheld the Nigerian Army’s core values and justified the confidence placed in them, adding that their conduct had earned commendation from Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

Babalola said arrangements were underway to award the troops operational medals, and urged them to sustain the standards they had set and avoid conduct that could tarnish the Army’s reputation.
