There’s A Silent Hill Remake On The Way

It may not have the prestige that something like the Summer Games Fest or Xbox Showcase does, but Konami’s Press Start event did at least bring some good news for Silent Hill fans: a remake of the original 1999 survival horror title for the PlayStation is in the works. It’s getting the same treatment as the insanely popular Silent Hill 2, with Bloober Team returning to the fold to handle all the nitty gritty remake bits.

Running up that Silent Hill

It’s no Guns of the Patriots remake, but we also learned that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is getting a multiplayer mode called Fox Hunt, with the game still on track to drop on 28 August 2025. Oh, and the Xbox version will see a Bomberman tie-in? That’s one surefire way to win the console wars, Xbox. Good job! The PlayStation and PC versions, on the other hand, will have to make do with an Ape Escape tie-in.

It seems as though Konami is just now realising what a money-printer the Silent Hill franchise is, and makes us hope that one day we’ll see the first four titles arrive on modern consoles with the same care and attention to detail that Bloober Team delivered last year. Unfortunately, neither Konami nor Bloober are spilling the beans this early, with the former talking up the latest entry instead, Silent Hill f, which takes place in Japan.

It wouldn’t be out of the question to expect a 2026 release date, however, considering Silent Hill f’s 25 September release this year. Konami now knows the value of pumping out something in the franchise on the regular. For the uninitiated, Silent Hill follows Harry Mason as he wades through hordes of monsters to find his daughter. It’s horror leans more on the psychological side, though don’t discount the Incubus, either.

Press Start also gave us a glimpse at a potential sleeper hit: Darwin’s Paradox. Players play as Darwin, an octopus. No, really. It’s a platformer action title that’s got an interesting art style and even more interesting gameplay loop, coming from the folks at ZDT Studio. Don’t worry if you’ve not heard of ’em before. This is ZDT’s first game (of many, we hope).
