The Humanitarian Crises in Congo and Sudan

On today’s show, Cat turns her attention to two of Africa’s most urgent humanitarian crises. First, Maurice Carney, co-founder and executive director of Friends of the Congo, discusses the ongoing violence, displacement, and instability in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the international response to the conflict.

Then, Olivier Rugemintwaza, Regional Director of Programs and Operations for Invisible Children, and Mohamed Abdu Samad, President of the Trust Rehabilitation and Development Organization (TDO), examine the escalating crisis in Sudan, including increasing drone strikes, widespread displacement, and reports of sexual violence against women and girls amid the ongoing conflict.
