Tanzania national Airline revenue rise from 254 billion to 1.5trillion shilling in 2025 .

The Tanzania National Airline( ATCL)  has seen its revenue rise from 254 billion shillings in 2021 to 1.5 trillion shillings by February 2025. This growth is attributed to an increase in flights and international routes initiated by the sixth government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

During the budget speech for the Prime Minister’s Office and Parliament for the 2025/2026 first year, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa informed the Tanzanian Parliament on April 9, 2025, that in February 2025, a total of 3,818,567 passengers were transported, a significant increase from the 822,232 passengers recorded in 2021.

“Honorable Speaker, the rise in the number of flights has also contributed to the increase in passenger numbers served, from 822,232 in 2021 to 3,818,567 in February 2025, and cargo has grown from 2,567 tons in 2021 to 5,730.48 tons by February 2025. Additionally, revenue has surged from 254 billion shillings in 2021 to 1.5 trillion shillings in February 2025,” stated Mr. Majaliwa.

Prime Minister Majaliwa also noted that ATCL has expanded its international routes, with flights now operating to Johannesburg in South Africa, Guangzhou in China, Mumbai in India, Lubumbashi in the DRC, Lusaka and Ndola in Zambia, Harare in Zimbabwe, and Dubai in the UAE.

According to Dr. Majaliwa, a total of 1.49 trillion shillings has been invested in acquiring seven aircraft, six of which are passenger planes and one dedicated to cargo. This expansion has enabled ATCL to also operate flights to Nairobi in Kenya, Entebbe in Uganda, Bujumbura in Burundi, Moroni in Comoros, and soon, the airline is expected to launch direct flights from Dar Es Salaam to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
