Rob Hersov, a South African entrepreneur and activist, plans to launch a media company tailored for South African audiences. In a recent interview with BizNews TV, Hersov revealed his intentions to create a platform similar to ‘The Daily Wire’ specifically for South Africa.

Hersov’s entry into media is not his first venture in the industry. In the early 2000s, he founded Sportal, a sports media company that saw significant growth and attracted major investments.

South African tycoon Hersov supports DAO Initiative

Beyond media, Hersov is committed to driving societal change in South Africa. He co-founded New South Africa.org, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) focused on addressing issues like infrastructure development and governance, reflecting his dedication to leveraging technology for societal improvement.

Hersov, one of South Africa’s wealthiest businessmen, is also a prominent figure in business and socio-political circles. Known for his outspoken criticism of the ruling ANC party, Hersov is the heir to the AngloVaal family, a major Southern African mining and industrial company sold off in the late 1990s. His grandfather, Bob Hersov, founded AngloVaal, and his father, Basil Hersov, led the company from 1973 to 2001.

Hersov expands wealth beyond inheritance

Though he inherited a significant trust fund, Hersov has built his own fortune. After earning his MBA from Harvard, he worked at Goldman Sachs and served as an assistant to U.S. billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

In 1998, he founded Marquis Jets Europe, a private jet company that he sold to Berkshire Hathaway’s NetJets in 2004. Since then, Hersov has led large multinational companies and created several businesses worth tens of millions of dollars.
