Sierra Leone Validates National Roadmap to Tackle Mobile and Digital Fraud

Orange Sierra Leone said safeguarding customers remains a priority and that it will continue working with regulators, government institutions and industry partners through its anti-fraud mechanisms and recently launched Scam Alert Tool to support a safer digital financial environment.

Orange Sierra Leone  and Orange Money SL  have joined government institutions, regulators and industry stakeholders in developing and validating Sierra Leone’s National Roadmap to Combat Mobile and Digital Fraud.

The two-day consultative workshop, held from 18 to 19 August 2026, was led by the Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Salima Monorma Bah, in collaboration with the National Communications Authority (NatCA), Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA), Bank of Sierra Leone, National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre, National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) and other stakeholders.

The engagement brought together telecommunications operators, mobile money providers, government agencies, civil society organisations and private-sector representatives to strengthen measures aimed at protecting consumers and building a more secure digital financial ecosystem.

Representatives from Orange Sierra Leone contributed to discussions on fraud prevention, consumer protection, SIM registration, Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance, fraud reporting mechanisms and public awareness.

During the workshop, Tamba Musa, Head of Fraud and Revenue Assurance at Orange Sierra Leone, highlighted the company’s real-time fraud detection systems and efforts to strengthen customer protection through nationwide scam prevention and awareness campaigns.

The workshop concluded with the validation of the National Roadmap, marking a milestone in efforts to strengthen digital trust and improve the security of mobile money services across Sierra Leone.
