Sierra Leone U-17 depart for Senegal or WAFU-A qualifiers – Africa Top Sports

Sierra Leone’s National U-17 Male Team, the 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬, have departed the country for Senegal via Guinea ahead of the 𝐖𝐀𝐅𝐔-𝐀 𝐔-𝟏𝟕 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, scheduled to take place in Dakar from 𝟕–𝟐𝟎 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The delegation comprises 𝟑𝟐 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬, including 20 players, eight technical staff and four officials, who will represent Sierra Leone in the regional competition.

Drawn in 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐀, the Sierra Stars will begin their campaign on 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟕 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, against The Gambia at 𝟕:𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐦. They will then face hosts Senegal on 𝟏𝟎 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝟕:𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐦, before concluding their group-stage campaign against Mauritania on 𝟏𝟑 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝟒:𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐦.

The team carries the hopes and aspirations of football-loving Sierra Leoneans as they seek to make a strong impression in the competition and secure progression to the next stage of the U-17 AFCON qualification pathway.

Upon arrival in Senegal, the squad is expected to undergo its 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐌𝐑𝐈) 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟑 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, as part of the mandatory age-verification process ahead of the tournament.
