Sierra Leone Stars pass MRI tests for WAFU-A U-17 tournament – Africa Top Sports

The Sierra Leone National Under-17 Male Team, Sierra Stars, has successfully completed the mandatory Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests ahead of the WAFU-A U-17 Tournament in Senegal.

The tests were conducted in Dakar, Senegal, as part of the age-verification process ahead of the commencement of the tournament on Monday, September 7, 2026.

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is delighted to confirm that all Sierra Stars players successfully passed the MRI tests, with the results officially confirmed by the WAFU-A headquarters in Banjul, The Gambia.

The successful completion of the MRI process clears the way for the Sierra Stars to fully focus on their campaign as they prepare to represent Sierra Leone at the regional tournament.

Meanwhile, SLFA President Babadi Kamara and General Secretary Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh are presently attending the 15th West Africa Football Union Zone A (WAFU A) Congress at the African Princess Beach Hotel in Banjul, The Gambia.

The congress has brought together football leaders and administrators from across the WAFU Zone A to deliberate on key issues concerning football development, governance, competitions and the future of the regional football body.

Also attending the congress is Angela Constance Gabbidon, Secretary of the SLFA Women’s League Board and a member of the WAFU A Disciplinary Committee.

A key highlight of the Congress will be the election of a new leadership to oversee and manage the affairs of the WAFU A Zone for the coming term.

The WAFU A Congress serves as an important platform for member associations to review the progress of football in the sub-region, strengthen regional cooperation, address key administrative and developmental issues, and make decisions that will shape the future growth and progress of football across West Africa.
