Should Katlego Otladisa return to Orlando Pirates Next Season?

Katlego Otladisa has settled in well at Sekhukhune United, where he is on loan for the remainder of the season. The winger is set to return to his parent club, Orlando Pirates, when the season concludes, but he may be permanently sought by Babina Noko.

Otladisa has scored two goals and provided one assist in his first eleven appearances for Sekhukhune United. This represents a significantly better return compared to his time at Orlando Pirates, where he recorded no goals or assists in twelve appearances.

Crucially, Katlego Otladisa has played a total of 634 minutes of football for Sekhukhune United, despite only joining in January. At Orlando Pirates, he played 363 minutes over one and a half years since joining.

“The boy has done well for Sekhukhune, and I know they are considering making his deal permanent. He has reminded everyone of his quality, and if Sekhukhune reaches an agreement with Pirates, then Otladisa will continue his football there next season,” a source revealed to Phakaaathi.

Do Orlando Pirates Need Katlego Otladisa?

The Buccaneers are facing a shortfall in the wingers’ position. The only recognised wingers at Orlando Pirates are Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota, and Monnapule Saleng. However, the latter has not played for The Sea Robbers since December 2024 due to reasons that remain unknown.

This means that Mofokeng and Nkota are the only wingers available for selection by Jose Riveiro. In recent weeks, Deon Hotto and Bandile Shandu, both fullbacks, have filled in at the winger positions whenever Nkota and Mofokeng needed to be substituted.

Yes, Katlego Otladisa would be a much-needed asset for Orlando Pirates had he not been sent out on loan. Even if he weren’t starting matches, having an extra player in that position would provide Jose Riveiro with more options, as well as the possibility of rotating Mofokeng and Nkota for certain fixtures.

Despite this, Otladisa still remains in the hearts of the Orlando Pirates head coach.

Jose Riveiro Wishes Otladisa Well at Sekhukhune

The Orlando Pirates head coach believes that Katlego Otladisa has the opportunity to perform at his best with Sekhukhune United.

“I wish him the best. He is one boy we all love in the team, in the group, in the club among the players, and among the coaching staff. He is a fantastic soul,” Riveiro told members of the media,

“He obviously was not having so many minutes with us in the last season and a half. So, this is a good place for him to continue with his development as a football player.

“He’s around like I said before experienced and very good players.

“So, it’s going to be easy for him to show the player that he really is and unfortunately, he couldn’t play against us. But I wish him all the best.” He added.

Should Katlego Otladisa return to Orlando Pirates at the end of the season?

Given the winger’s solid performance at Sekhukhune United so far, is that the ideal environment for him? Or does he possess the ability to thrive at Orlando Pirates?
