Sheehan: We’re hungrier than Bulls

Hooker Dan Sheehan insists Leinster won’t be outmatched in desire as the Irish giants gear up for Saturday’s Vodacom URC final against the Bulls at Croke Park.

Leo Cullen’s men have endured three consecutive URC semi-final exits, while also falling short in this season’s Investec Champions Cup, and are chasing a first title since 2021.

The two top-ranked teams in the league stage this season, Jake White’s Bulls lead Leinster 4-2 in URC clashes, including a historic Dublin semi-final win in 2022 and back-to-back Loftus victories ahead of this week’s decider.

“Absolutely no way,” Sheehan told RTÉ Sport. “We’ve had six weeks to focus on the URC and we’ve been trophyless the last however many years.

“The hunger is there for sure in the group. There’s absolutely no way that a team will be hungrier than us.”

“You can feel the buzz,” the Ireland rake added. “People are excited, another final to look forward to. We are happy with how we dealt with Glasgow on Saturday, but the first conversation was we need to up it a level. Finals are different.

On the Bulls’ favourable record against Cullen’s charges, Sheehan said: “That might be fuel for the fire. They are a dangerous team. We need to make sure we are all guns blazing.”
