The District Commissioner of Moshi, Godfrey Mnzava, has delivered food aid to an elderly care camp located in the Mjimpya area of Moshi Municipality, Kilimanjaro Region.
While presenting the aid, Mnzava stated that the food was provided by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to help the elderly celebrate the Easter holiday joyfully, just like other Christians.
He emphasized that President Samia’s gesture reflects love and concern for needy seniors, acknowledging the economic hardships faced by some elderly individuals and assuring that the government is working to address their challenges.
Additionally, the Member of Parliament for Moshi Urban, Priscus Tarimo, urged children to continue caring for their parents tirelessly and without losing hope, as parents have dedicated much time to their care. He also called on the community and stakeholders to work together to support and care for the elderly.
He remarked, “Elderly people need love, care, and appreciation. We should not abandon them or think they are unworthy; instead, we must collaborate to support them and not leave it solely to the government. By doing so, we will receive blessings from God. We must recognize that these elders are a treasure of our nation, and we have a duty to serve them tirelessly,” Tarimo stressed.
Furthermore, the elderly expressed their gratitude to the government led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for consistently remembering them and providing their essential needs.
Among the items provided to the elderly were rice, sugar, cooking oil, flour, soap, salt, and goats.
