Royal AM head to court to fight for PSL status!

Royal AM have headed to court to file for an interdict to stop PSL Board of Governors (BoG) from convening.

SABC Sport reports that the PSL BoG was set to meet on Thursday to deliberate further on the Royal AM.

However, the virtual meeting had to be adjourned as soon as news of Royal AM filing an interdict resurfaced.

Last week, the PSL BoG voted for the expulsion of Royal AM from the league following their failure to honour fixtures.

Thwihli Thwahla last played a competitive match in December 2024, and that brought the league into disrepute.

Royal AM had be withdrawn from the Nedbank Cup after all their games was postponed indefinitely.

Furthermore, after a SARS curator took over the club, there were attempts to sell Royal AM in an attempt to recover an amount in the region of R40 million.

However, that was unsuccessful as two highest bidders failed to make payment within the required time frame.

ROYAL AM HEAD TO COURT TO STOP PSL

“SABC Sport can reveal that Royal AM have filed a court interdict against the Premier Soccer League board of governors meeting that was scheduled for Thursday morning,” reads part of the report.

“Earlier this week, Madlala invited clubs to another special meeting, this time to ‘consider matters relating to the cancellation of Royal AM’, and ‘to take such resolutions as maybe necessary [if any] arising from the cancellation’.

“The virtual meeting was scheduled for 11:00 on Thursday, but had to be adjourned with news that Royal AM had filed an urgent court interdict.”
