Stormers powerhouse Evan Roos is currently not among the leading candidates for the Springbok No 8 jersey, but remains a part of Rassie Erasmus’ plans.
There have been reports of a fallout between Roos and Erasmus that led to the 25-year-old’s exclusion from the recent national alignment camp in Cape Town.
According to Rapport, Roos was overlooked purely for rugby reasons, with Jasper Wiese, Cameron Hanekom and Juarno Augustus currently ahead in the pecking order.

However, a source told the Sunday news outlet that the door remains open, especially if Wiese fails to recover from a neck injury in time for the July Tests.
“The only reason Evan wasn’t at the camp is because there are other No 8s ahead of him,” the source said. “That could change quickly if he shines for the Stormers, or if Jasper isn’t ready.”
Roos’ omission sparked claims of off-field issues, but Stormers chief John Dobson dismissed that.
“Evan is a great team man, on and off the field,” the director of rugby said. “He’s focused, wants to be a Bok again, and is doing everything to get there.”
