development partners in the areas of nutrition and Neglected Tropical
Diseases.

integrating VAS into routine health services, ensuring sustained,

Scope of Position
We
are seeking a Research Officer to join our dynamic team in Tanzania and
support cutting-edge research on integrating VAS into Reproductive and
Child Health (RCH) services. This is an exciting opportunity to
contribute to both national health outcomes and the global evidence base
for VAS delivery in low- and middle-income countries.

Functional Relationship
The Research Officer reports to Country Nutrition Lead.
Specific Responsibilities
The
Research Officer will play a key role in supporting the design,
implementation, and analysis of research projects related to VAS
integration in Tanzania’s health system. Under the supervision of the
National Program Manager and Regional Research Manager, you will
contribute to the development of research tools, data collection,
analysis, and dissemination of findings. You will also assist in
preparing manuscripts for publication to share insights with the broader
global health community.
Key Responsibilities
1.Research Design and Development
• Contribute to the development of research proposals and concept notes aligned with VAS program goals.
• Support the creation of data collection tools, reporting templates, and statistical analysis plans.
• Participate in research planning meetings with internal teams and external partners.
•
Assist in preparing research workplans and budgets in collaboration
with the National Research Manager and Regional Research Manager.
2. Research Implementation and Coordination
• Coordinate ongoing research projects with program staff and implementing partners.
• Provide training and support to data collection teams to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Oversee data management, including the maintenance of databases and data repositories.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis to assess program performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare research reports, presentations, and publications to share findings with key stakeholders.
• Monitor research budgets to ensure efficient use of resources.
3. Knowledge Dissemination
• Support the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals to contribute to global health knowledge.
• Develop presentations and knowledge-sharing materials for internal and external audiences.
• Assist in organizing workshops and knowledge dissemination events to share research findings.
Qualifications/Eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in public health, Epidemiology, Nutrition, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of field experience in research project implementation.
• Experience in operational research, particularly in low-resource settings.
• Knowledge of the Tanzanian health system and Community Health Strategy (CHS) is an advantage.
• Familiarity with randomized control trials (RCTs) and both qualitative and quantitative data collection.
• Proficiency in data analysis software such as Stata and ODK or DHIS2.
• Experience managing databases and maintaining data integrity.
• Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili; French language skills are a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time within Tanzania.
