Relebohile Mofokeng dominates 2025/26 PSL Awards

Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng stole the spotlight at the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League (PSL) Awards on Monday evening, walking away with a haul of individual accolades to cap off a brilliant campaign.

The 21-year-old superstar—who recently secured a high-profile move abroad—was crowned the PSL Footballer of the Season following an incredible domestic campaign with the Buccaneers.

Mofokeng’s dominance did not stop there. He was also voted the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season and bagged the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season award, solidifying his status as South Africa’s premier football talent.

Orlando Pirates Dominate League Categories

Following a league-winning campaign, Orlando Pirates made a near-clean sweep in the Betway Premiership individual categories.
Bucs head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was named the Betway Premiership Coach of the Season for guiding his side to title glory. His players dominated the remaining awards, with Sipho Chaine taking home the Goalkeeper of the Season, Lebone Seema claiming Defender of the Season, Oswin Appollis being awarded Midfielder of the Season, and Camren Dansin winning Goal of the Season.

Cup Competitions & Retiring Legends Honoured

The evening also celebrated top performances across domestic cup competitions:

Nedbank Cup: Veteran goalkeeper Darren Keet, who officially retired at the end of the season, was named the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament after helping Durban City FC to a historic cup victory. TS Galaxy’s Seluleko Mahlambi received the Most Promising Player of the Tournament award.

Carling Knockout: Former Orlando Pirates star Mbekezeli Mbokazi was honoured with the Player of the Tournament accolade.

MTN8: Pirates forward Tshepang Moremi scooped the MTN8 Last Man Standing award.

Cape Town City & Sundowns Starlets Shine

In the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Cape Town City FC dominated the awards, with Emile Witbooi named Players’ Player of the Season, Gabriel Armato taking Young Player of the Season, and Mickey van der Hart earning Goalkeeper of the Season.
In the reserve league, Mamelodi Sundowns starlet Bennet Mokoena completed a double in the DStv Diski Challenge, walking away with both the Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorer awards.

Match Officials Recognized

The SAFA National Referees Committee Panel recognised top-performing officials, crowning Eugene Mdluli as Referee of the Season, while Nandipha Menze walked away with Assistant Referee of the Season.
