The Premier Soccer League (PSL), the governing body responsible for administering South Africa’s two professional soccer leagues, has announced a new sponsorship agreement with Carling Black Label.
The deal will see the Canadian brand – produced in South Africa by South African Breweries – become the association’s official beer partner from the beginning of the 2017/18 season.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Carling-owned lager will be sold at the stadiums of all teams competing in the PSL.
The financial terms and length of the partnership were not disclosed.
Speaking to kickoff.com, Carling Black Label’s brand director Samori Gambrah said: “South African Breweries has always been a beverage sponsor within the league, previously with Castle Lager and now we are shifting it to Carling Black Label.”
Bidvest Wits won the South African Premier Division in 2016/17, marking the first time that the Johannesburg-based club have been crowned champions of the country’s top flight.
