Paragon of integrity, ethical policing

SIR: In an era where public trust in law enforcement is often tested, certain individuals stand out for their principled conduct, professionalism, and relentless pursuit of justice.

One such figures is Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Olayemi Fasogbon, a police officer whose commitment to ethical policing and community safety has made significant contributions to policing in Ode-Remo and its neighbouring communities.

From the onset of his policing career, Fasogbon has distinguished himself as a cultured, civil, and principled officer. His approach to leadership is grounded in integrity, discipline, and a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of justice.

These values came to the forefront when he was posted as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to Ode-Remo Divisional Police Headquarters, at the time bearing the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP).

A fanatical approach to fighting crime
Upon assuming office, Fasogbon wasted no time in assessing the security landscape of his jurisdiction, which spans Ode-Remo, Ilara Remo, Akaka Remo, and Ipara Remo. In a region that had begun to see increasing criminal activity, his arrival marked a significant turning point.

With what can only be described as fanatical determination, Fasogbon took the fight directly to the dens of criminality. His aggressive but strategic operations led to the dislodgement of notorious gangs, the arrest of hardened criminals, and the dismantling of drug and robbery networks.

His method was a mix of intelligence-driven raids, visible community patrols, and collaboration with local vigilantes and traditional institutions all within the bounds of professionalism and legality.

In recognition of his exceptional performance and commitment to duty, Fasogbon was deservedly promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in the previous year. Rather than rest on his laurels, this career milestone served as a catalyst, revitalising and re-energising his anti-crime mission.

With renewed vigor, Fasogbon deepened community engagements, enhanced surveillance mechanisms, and rolled out new tactical operations aimed at consolidating gains in the war against crime. His leadership brought about a significant reduction in crime rates, and areas once deemed volatile were transformed into havens of peace.
Ode-Remo peaceful model

Under Fasogbon’s watch, Ode-Remo and its surrounding towns experienced a remarkable turnaround in terms of security and public safety. The results of his efforts were so evident that not one, but two separate Area Commanders adjudged Ode-Remo as the most peaceful town within their jurisdiction a resounding testament to Fasogbon’s impact.

Local leaders, youth organisations, market associations, and religious bodies have all acknowledged the peace dividends of his leadership of the division. Reports of armed robbery, cultism, and petty theft plummeted. Beyond statistics, the palpable sense of safety restored to the communities remains his most enduring legacy. Although a lot still needs to be done because “it is not over until it is over.”

Fasogbon exemplifies what it means to be a professional and ethical officer in the Nigeria Police Force. His ability to lead with fairness while remaining uncompromising on matters of justice sets him apart. In a system often criticised for excesses and inefficiencies, his example shows that integrity, strategic thinking, and community collaboration can indeed transform policing outcomes.

The story of Fasogbon is more than a personal success. It is a model of what leadership in law enforcement should look like. His activities in Ode-Remo has not only restored peace but has rekindled public confidence in the police as protectors of the people. As he continues to rise in rank and responsibility, one can only hope that his ethos and results-oriented style will inspire the next generation of officers.
