Oyo flags off distribution of 12,298 bags of fertilizers to over 6,000 farmers

Oyo State government has flagged off of free distribution of 12,298 bags of assorted fertilizers to over Six thousand farmers across the state to prevent food insecurity in the state.

The programme which was launched in Oyo town by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye aims to enhance crop productivity, strengthen food security, and increase rural farmers’ income.

Speaking with journalists, the commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, B Olasunkanmi Olaleye emphasised the government’s commitment to agricultural excellence and food security.

He noted that the programme is an investment in the future of farmers, their families, and the nation’s food security.

In her welcome address the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Ministery of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Abosede Owoeye cautioned farmers against converting the fertilizers into immediate monetary gains, warning that such actions would undermine the long-term benefits of the programme.

Some of the beneficiaries, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for solving the challenges confronted by farmers in supplying farm implement and help in plough their land.

The programme is expected to have a positive impact on farmers and the agricultural sector in the state.
