Orlando Pirates man chosen to solve big Kaizer Chiefs problem?

Kaizer Chiefs are looking to step up their transfer activity as the new transfer window is fasting approaching.

Chiefs finished outside the top eight for a second consecutive season and know improvements are imperative for the next.

Chiefs competing in multiple competitions next season

Furthermore, Chiefs will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup next season. This a feat that they earned after beating arch rivals Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final. That will see their schedule become increasingly difficult, factoring more games and travel throughout the continent. Then having to balance that with potentially, Betway Premiership, Carling Knockout and Nedbank Cup games.

With that in mind, Chiefs management will understand they will need strength and depth as well as experience. This then looks to have led them to the surprise move to sign Paseka Mako to boost their left-back ranks. The 31-year-old would be arriving from arch nemesis Pirates with a wealth of know-how. This after playing continental football and winning six trophies while with the Buccaneers. He would also come in as a potential starter, solving the left-back issue at Amakhosi.

In advanced talks to sign Mako after Pirates release

Now according to SABC Sport, Chiefs are in advanced talks to sign Mako after recently leaving Pirates.

“SABC Sport can exclusively reveal that former Orlando Pirates defender Paseka Mako could be heading to Naturena as talks with Kaizer Chiefs have progressed to an advanced stage. According to information gathered by the public broadcaster, the 31-year-old has entered into talks with their Soweto rivals over a potential move to The Glamour Boys ahead of the upcoming season. Mako now presents a viable option and will arrive as a free agent, should the finer details be ironed out and all parties involved are satisfied.” Wrote the publication.
