Orlando leaves Libya hoping for peace, unity and a better future

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, Nicola Orlando, has expressed hope that the aspirations of Libyans and their partners for peace, unity and a better future for the country will soon be realized.

Orlando made the remarks in a post on X on Monday as his tenure as the European Union Ambassador to Libya draws to a close.

He said he was leaving Libya deeply grateful for the generosity and warm hospitality he had received from the Libyan people, while expressing admiration for their resilience in the face of adversity.

Orlando said he had been honored to serve Libya twice and expressed his sincere gratitude to his team, partners and the Libyan people for what he described as a rewarding journey during his tenure.

The EU ambassador said the generosity of the Libyan people and their resilience in confronting challenges were among the things that had left the strongest impression on him during his time in the country, expressing hope that joint efforts would lead to peace, unity and a better future for Libya.
