Nyamguma Mahamud emerges as the ‘winner ‘ in clean energy news reporting

Nyamguma Mahamud, a journalist from “Mlimani FM” has emerged victorious at the 2025 Samia Kalamu Awards in the category of Clean Cooking Energy Reporting.

His contributions have been recognized by the Ministry of Energy, which awarded him various prizes to further promote education on clean cooking energy.

The award ceremony took place in Dar es Salaam, with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, serving as the guest of honor.

Mahamud received his awards from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko.

The winner was presented with a cash prize of ‘five million shillings,’ a laptop, an energy-efficient stove, and a year’s supply of electricity. 

Mramba highlighted the importance of Mahamud’s work in advocating for clean cooking energy, stating that the modern electric stove and a year’s worth of home electricity were also part of the recognition.

The Clean Cooking Energy Award exemplifies support for President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts to promote the use of clean cooking energy. The Samia Kalamu Awards are organized by the Tanzania Media Women Association (TAMWA) and the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) under the theme “Patriotism is Smart.”
