Nigeria’s Envoy, Endoni, Arrives Burkina Faso, Pledges Stronger Ties, Diaspora Unity – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Amb. Syndoph Endoni, has arrived in Ouagadougou to assume duty as Nigeria’s principal diplomatic representative in the West African country.

Endoni was received on arrival by Burkinabe officials, members of the African diplomatic corps, officials of the Nigerian Embassy and representatives of the Nigerian community in Burkina Faso.

A statement issued on Thursday said the Director of Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities at the Burkinabe State House Protocol, Albert Djiguembe, was among the officials who welcomed the ambassador at the airport.

Also present were Ghana’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Kenneth Akibate, and his Chadian counterpart, Mahamat Ahmat, who represented the African Group of Ambassadors, alongside diplomatic officers from Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, duty station officers of the Nigerian Embassy and members of the Nigerian community.

Endoni later received another warm welcome at the Nigerian Embassy, where schoolchildren, cultural groups, embassy staff and members of the Nigerian community gathered to mark his arrival. The reception featured cultural performances and a dinner organised in honour of the new envoy.

The ambassador is expected to formally present his Letters of Credence to the Burkinabe authorities in the coming days. The ceremony will officially mark the commencement of his ambassadorial responsibilities and full diplomatic engagement with the government of Burkina Faso.

Speaking during an interaction with Nigerians at the embassy, Endoni pledged to promote unity among the Nigerian community and maintain close engagement with citizens living and doing business across the country.

“We will work closely together to ensure that we remain one family, one community and one Nigeria,” he said.

The ambassador stressed that a united Nigerian diaspora would be critical to projecting a positive image of the country, protecting the interests of citizens and supporting stronger bilateral relations between Nigeria and Burkina Faso.

He said the embassy under his leadership would work to deepen consular services and strengthen engagement with Nigerians in Burkina Faso, while ensuring that their concerns receive appropriate attention.

Endoni noted that Nigeria and Burkina Faso have longstanding political, economic and people-to-people relations, with both countries sharing common interests in peace, security, trade, migration and development across the West African sub-region.

He said his tenure would focus on strengthening diplomatic engagement with Burkinabe authorities and exploring areas of mutual interest that could further advance relations between the two countries.

A career diplomat, Endoni has served Nigeria in several diplomatic missions and assignments. Before his appointment to Burkina Faso, he was Chargé d’Affaires at Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

His arrival in Ouagadougou comes at a significant time for West African diplomacy, with regional security, economic cooperation, migration and stability expected to remain key issues on the agenda.

The ambassador is expected to commence formal engagements with the Burkinabe government shortly after presenting his Letters of Credence.
