Namibia ICT Minister Visits Angola’s National Data Centre During ANGOTIC 2026

The infrastructure is intended to support improved digital service delivery and strengthen cloud computing capacity across the public sector.

The Minister of Information and Communication Technology of Namibia , Hon. Emma Theofelus, has visited Angola’s newly inaugurated National Data Centre and cloud infrastructure in Camama, Luanda, as part of a regional digital cooperation engagement during ANGOTIC 2026. The visit took place on 13 June 2026 and included members of the Namibian delegation attending the technology and innovation event.

The delegation was received by officials from the Instituto Nacional de Fomento da Sociedade de Informação (INFOSI), including Director General André Mpumba Pedro, who guided them through the facility and provided an overview of its design, infrastructure, and operational model. Further technical insights were shared by INFOSI consultant Fernando Vicente during a follow-up briefing, where questions from the Namibian delegation were addressed.

During the tour, Minister Theofelus expressed strong interest in the data centre’s advanced systems and highlighted the importance of strengthening national digital infrastructure. She noted that Namibia is actively advancing its own plans to develop a national data centre as part of its broader digital transformation agenda led by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (Namibia).

The Camama facility was presented as a key component of Angola’s digital transformation strategy, integrated into a high-speed fibre-optic network connecting major government institutions. The infrastructure is intended to support improved digital service delivery and strengthen cloud computing capacity across the public sector. The visit also took place alongside broader discussions at ANGOTIC 2026, where regional cooperation on digital infrastructure and innovation remains a central theme.
