Naira Abuse: Don’t condemn Tompolo over mere allegation – EFCC to Nigerians

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has advised Nigerians to cease from condemning Chief Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, over the recent allegation of Naira abuse.

Olukoyede gave the admonition on Sunday while fielding questions on TVC.

This statement came after a viral video from Tompolo’s 54th birthday celebration showed him dancing while a man lavishly sprayed N1,000 notes before him.

In the aftermath of the incident, some Nigerians dared EFCC to arrest Tompolo to prove that it is not selective in enforcing the naira abuse law.

Some had also speculated that the EFCC may turn a blind eye to the viral video.

However, speaking about the matter in an interview with TVC on Sunday, Olukoyede confirmed that Tompolo has been invited for questioning and stated that he should not be labelled guilty until the case is concluded.

He also disclosed that the viral video has been subjected to forensic analysis, suggesting that the clip may have been doctored.

“We have invited Tompolo, the whole Nigerians know that, and we said there is no human that is above the law.

“Nobody should go and condemn Tompolo for the allegation. It’s a mere allegation for now. We have subjected the video to forensic analysis because these days, people can impose… you know?,” Olukoyede said.
