Monnapule Saleng preparing to join Kaizer Chiefs?

Orlando Pirates‘ outcast, Monnapule Saleng, could potentially join their rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, if the rumors are to be believed.

The 26-year-old winger has not played for the Buccaneers in nearly four months, and his future with the Soweto giants is uncertain; he may have already played his last game for the team. It is widely believed that Saleng’s situation is related to contract issues.

“The team is already working behind the scenes in terms of preparing the squad for next season. The club and the coach will sit down at the end of the season to finalise the list of players to be signed,” a source told KickOff magazine.

“I cannot discuss the issue of Saleng joining Kaizer Chiefs.”

Last year, renowned agent Rui Frois said that United Arab Emirates outfit Al Nasr SC made attempts to sign Saleng from Pirates but the Buccaneers put a R75 million price tag on the winger’s head. Earlier this year, the Soweto giants disputed those claims in a statement.

Saleng could jump ship and join Kaizer Chiefs

“The misinformation began with a fabricated story regarding Monnapule Saleng, alleging that the Club had denied the player a lucrative transfer opportunity to a team in the Middle East. Initially, we chose to disregard this as, yet another false narrative meant to explain the player’s temporary absence from the playing squad. Unfortunately, the story has since gained unwarranted traction, even being picked up by some mainstream media outlets,” Orlando Pirates said in a statement.

With Saleng likely to leave the club, it remains to be seen if he would join Kaizer Chiefs.
