Mark Zuckerberg, the head of Meta, has fired 20 employees for leaking confidential information to the media.
This decision follows recent reports that included comments from Zuckerberg and other executives made during internal meetings.
A Meta spokesperson confirmed the terminations, emphasizing that leaking “internal information” is against company policy, regardless of the intent.
The company conducted an investigation that led to these firings and warned that more could follow.
Meta has been facing internal unrest since Zuckerberg introduced policies perceived as aligning with the new Trump administration, including the removal of diversity initiatives and changes to fact-checking practices.
Due to ongoing leaks, Zuckerberg expressed frustration about being open with employees, stating that his comments often end up in the press, which prompted a company-wide memo reminding staff that leaking information could result in termination.
Meta’s chief information security officer highlighted the broader negative impact of leaks on team morale and productivity, while the chief technology officer noted that the company is actively working to identify those responsible for the leaks.
