The story

The three stripes have taken football fashion back to the 1990s, unveiling a nostalgic lifestyle collection for its elite clubs that reimagines the iconic Equipment (EQT) aesthetic for the 2026/27 season.

The adidas Elite Teams 26/27 1990s EQT shirts draw heavily from the distinctive football designs of the era, with oversized geometric detailing and structured templates giving the collection its unmistakable throwback feel.

Manchester United were among the first clubs to showcase the retro-inspired range, debuting their EQT look in the Premier League before wearing it again on the UEFA Champions League stage.

The Red Devils’ design takes its cues from the bold, heavily structured aesthetic that defined adidas footballwear in the early 1990s, delivering a nostalgic look while maintaining a modern lifestyle appeal.

Real Madrid have also joined the revival, wearing their own EQT-inspired jersey in recent fixtures, including their Champions League clash with Inter Milan on Tuesday.

The Spanish giants’ version stays true to their classic identity, featuring a pristine white base with subtle tonal vertical stripes woven into the fabric for a refined take on the vintage aesthetic.

Juventus have also brought the EQT influence back to the pitch, with their 2026/27 lifestyle shirt offering a more neutral interpretation of the trend.

The design features a light grey base with a white variation, complemented by black-and-white detailing across the shoulders to create the bold, structured look associated with adidas’ 1990s Equipment era.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have gone for a much more vibrant approach. The adidas Bayern München 26/27 EQT lifestyle shirt debuted ahead of the Bavarians’ Champions League fixture against Bodø/Glimt, with the German giants opting for a striking red base enhanced by subtle tonal vertical stripes and a thick retro-inspired V-neck collar.

Across the collection, adidas has managed to capture the attitude of 1990s football fashion while giving each club its own interpretation of the EQT formula.

With some of Europe’s biggest clubs now embracing the throwback trend, with Arsenal, Liverpool and more coming next, the latest collection offers supporters a chance to bring a distinctly nostalgic piece of football culture into their modern-day wardrobes.
