Mamba Minerals Ltd, which holds a license for rare “earth element ” mining, has announced that it will officially begin construction of the mine in December 2025, with the first production expected by the end of 2026.
This information was shared today in Dodoma during a meeting between the Minister of Minerals, Hon. Anthony Mavunde, and leaders from Mamba Minerals and Shenghe Ltd. During the meeting, Mamba Minerals Chairman, Mr. Russell Scrimshaw, emphasized the company’s commitment to responding to the government’s call for early mineral production, as highlighted by the Minister.
He assured that, in collaboration with their partner Shenghe, they will ensure the mine’s construction starts on schedule.
Shenghe’s Chairman, Mr. Quangan Wang, added that the mine’s development will also include the establishment of a processing plant and a “power generation ” facility with a capacity of 10-12 megawatts to support both the mine and the surrounding community.
Rare earth minerals are essential for manufacturing electronic devices, wind energy equipment, electric vehicle motors, and medical equipment. Minister Mavunde praised the company’s adherence to government directives for the swift development of the rare earth mine and reiterated that all license holders must commence mining activities within the 18-month timeframe stipulated in the Mining Act.
This mining project is expected to enhance the quality of mineral extraction for local communities, create partnership opportunities, and improve standards in the sector.
