Major overhaul of Al-Khums power plant

The General Electricity Company announced on Saturday that it had carried out a major overhaul to refurbish seven boilers at the Al-Khums power plant, as part of efforts to maintain the generating capacity of the units and improve the plant’s efficiency.

In a statement, the company said that the refurbishment work included three auxiliary boilers and four desalination boilers, in addition to upgrading the control and monitoring system, all while ensuring that the work did not interfere with the operation of the plant’s units.

The recurring electricity crisis in Libya has sparked public anger, leading to sit-ins and the closure of government and official institutions in the capital, Tripoli. This anger stems from the disruption of public services caused by the unstable electricity grid, which exacerbates the country’s economic and living conditions.
