LINSU Launches 2026 National Quizzing County Meet | News

Academic rivalry and intellectual prowess are set to take over the capital as the Liberia National Students’ Union (LINSU) officially launched the 2026 National Quizzing County Meet. The grand kickoff, featuring an official draw and dinner, brought together student representatives, educators, coaches, and policymakers from all 15 counties at the Monrovia City Hall.

Designed to foster healthy competition and celebrate intellectual achievement among youth, the tournament promises high-stakes academic showdowns as teams battle for county supremacy.

Addressing the gathering, LINSU President James K. Washington emphasized the vital role the national competition plays in creating platforms for Liberian students to showcase their intellect and capabilities. Washington appealed for sustained backing from corporate partners and national stakeholders, stressing that investing in educational initiatives directly translates to building Liberia’s future workforce.

The call echoed strongly with key corporate sponsors. Representing Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) Managing Director Jacob Smith, Deputy Managing Director for Administration underscored that intellectual development remains the bedrock of national progress.

Challenging the student contestants, the LPRC executive urged them to view their minds as their most valuable assets. He advised participants to approach the podium with integrity and humility, reminding them that true victory lies in discipline, mutual respect, and character rather than just the final score. He also highlighted LPRC’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment, pointing to the company’s recent intake of 28 university interns and hands-on engineering exposure programs launched earlier this summer.

The National Port Authority (NPA) also voiced strong support. Speaking through a representative, NPA Public Relations Officer Pewee Baysah encouraged the student delegates to fully maximize the tournament as a springboard for expanding their academic capacity and sharpening their leadership potential.
