Libya discusses Africa–Turkey summit hosting with Ankara

Libya’s Foreign Minister, Taher al-Baour, has discussed political developments and plans to host the Africa–Turkey summit with Turkey’s Ambassador to Libya, Guven Begec.

Talks on Monday covered bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors, alongside an exchange of views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, according to the Foreign Ministry.

Both sides reviewed efforts to advance Libya’s political process and stressed the importance of supporting initiatives that reinforce security and stability, while preserving the country’s unity and sovereignty.

Al-Baour also outlined Libya’s participation in the African Union Executive Council meeting held in Addis Ababa on 28 and 29 July, where an agreement was signed for Libya to host the next Africa–Turkey summit.

He said the move reflected growing international confidence in Libya and marked a renewed role in regional diplomacy, adding that hosting the summit could expand cooperation in investment, trade, infrastructure and development.
