‘Last ever Soweto derby’ – Orlando Pirates aim for fitting send off

Orlando Pirates have more to play for than the three points at stake against Kaizer Chiefs.

Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have everything to play for in the latest edition of the Soweto derby.

However, the Bucs have the added sentiment of giving coach Jose Riveiro a fitting send off.

JOSE RIVEIRO’S TO LEAVE PIRATES AT THE END OF THE SEASON

Jose Riveiro and Pirates will be parting ways at the end of the season.

Pirates and Chiefs will clash in back-to-back Soweto derbies on 3 May (Betway Premiership) and 10 May (Nedbank Cup final)

Meaning, the Nedbank Cup final will be the last time Riveiro coaches Pirates against Chiefs in the Soweto derby. Meanwhile, the Betway Premiership encounter will be his last in the league.

CAPTAINS SOWETO DERBY FAREWELL

Pirates captain, Innocent Maela contract will expire at the end of the season.

So, as things stand he is likely to hang up his boots at the end of the season. In fact, the Bucs captain has been offered a new non-playing role at the club.

Therefore, this is likely to be his final Soweto derby as a player too.
