Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make another push for Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien next season.
It was no secret that Chiefs were trying to sign Basadien from Stellies during the two previous windows but failed.
In the off-season window, Stellenbosch made it clear that they would not be selling all of their key players. Subsequently they only sanctioned the sales of captain Deano van Rooyen to Orlando Pirates and Iqraam Rayners to Mamelodi Sundowns. Even Jayden Adams was denied an opportunity to join Sundowns in what was already seen as a done deal. Basadien suffered the same fate and couldn’t move to Chiefs as a result.
Advantage Chiefs have in Basadien chase
Then in the January transfer window, it was reported that Chiefs had put feelers out to understand deal conditions. In the end, there was not much movement there with Basadien remaining put at Stellenbosch. In fact, it was Adams who would finally get his move to Sundowns. Amakhosi’s pursuit for the left-back was never going to be abandoned, regardless.
On Wednesday, this publication reported that Chiefs may have an advantage in their pursuit. According to the latest from Soccer-Laduma, Amakhosi have put in an improved bid for Basadien!
Improved bid in for Amakhosi
“I believe this is a much better and improved bid. It’s about a player (Basadien) that they really need and they are giving it everything to sign him. We all know it won’t be an easy one as Stellies are the ones in control but Chiefs are determined to sign him and that’s why they are believed to have tabled a new offer which is more appealing,” said the source.
Securing the services of Basadien would be massive for Chiefs, with his experience and ability. Amakhosi fans do these news excite you? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab.
