Kaizer Chiefs hit roadblock in Fiston Mayele pursuit

Kaizer Chiefs long-term target Fiston Mayele is reportedly close to signing a two-year extension with Pyramids FC, constricting AmaKhosi’s chances of signing the Congolese international.

The 30-year-old visited Soweto last week during their goalless encounter against Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals. Mayele impressed throughout, neatly converting a goal that was later disallowed.

The Egyptian giants are reportedly doing all they can to keep Mayele amid Kaizer Chiefs’ interest.

“They are doing everything to keep him. They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well and they want to make sure they keep him. So they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well,” Soccer Laduma reported.

A second source revealed that, “Whether Pryamids are offering him a new two-year deal or not, Chiefs have made him their top target for next season after failing to sign him this season. So, although it’s believed that his team are offering him a new deal, Chiefs are still interested in signing him,” the second source revealed.
