‘I have beaten Chiefs four times this season’ – Manqoba Mgqithi

Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has made it known that he has gotten the better of Kaizer Chiefs three times this season.

His side handed Amakhosi their 10th league defeat of the season at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The KZN-based recently rejoined Arrows.

Before the start of the season, Mngqithi was appointed Mamelodi Sundowns, replacing Rulani Mokwena. He only lasted five months before he was given the boot for poor results. In the four months in charge, he was able to beat Amakhosi twice.

After the match, Manqonba Mngqithi said his team could have scored more during their 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs.

“I have beaten Kaizer Chiefs FC four (three) times this season. This game could have been a different score line than it is suggested if my players took those missed chances”, he said as per Sportswire.

While Mngqithi’s side boosted their top eight chances, Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi said his team failed to take their chances in the first half.

“We feel we controlled the game in the first half and could have scored as we were in a very good moment but we didn’t,” Nabi told SABC Sport.

“The injury of Thabo Cele in the first half, disorganised us a bit in the second half, in terms of liasing with the defence and attack, we didn’t start well in the second half.

“But the changes we made made us come back into the game, then we conceded a goal out of nowhere and after that it’s very difficult to come back from that.”
