Government’s Appreciation for the Role of Religious Leaders in National Development

Prime Minister of Tanzania Dr.Kassim Majaliwa has stated that the Sixth Phase Government trusts and values the contributions of religious leaders from all denominations.

He mentioned that the government will continue to strengthen collaboration with these leaders to foster peace, unity, and the well-being of the Tanzanian community.

“We believe you will continue to encourage Tanzanians to recognize the importance of each individual being part of the effort to make this nation peaceful and to enhance our unity.”

He made these remarks today, June 7, 2025, while being the guest of honor at the Eid Al Adha Council held at the Mohamed VI Mosque in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam.

He emphasized that religious leaders have a significant role in guiding their followers to exhibit dignity, civility, tolerance, and to acknowledge that they are part of the community and should engage in developmental activities.

“On the part of the government, we are continuing to build foundations of unity between followers of the same denomination and those of different denominations, believing that religion has helped make this country a place of peace at all times.”he said .

He also called on Tanzanians to continue safeguarding the peace and stability in the country so that the nation can continue to prosper.

He stated that it is important to have the ability to condemn any actions that threaten peace in the country.

Additionally, he urged Tanzanians to keep praying for national leaders, especially the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Honorable Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, asking God to grant her strength and health to continue leading this nation.

He also congratulated the Muslims who have successfully completed the Hajj pilgrimage while calling on Muslims in the country to continue praying for their safe return.

“Let us continue to pray for our fellow believers to complete that worship, as it is a blessing for us because they also pray for us.”

He further commended religious leaders for continuing to educate young people so they can grow up adhering to strong principles that promote religion and its values.

“Religions play a significant role in the spiritual development of believers, and when we nurture our believers spiritually, we instill faith that benefits the nation.” he said.
