Frontlines in Yemen Escalate Again: Dozens Killed and Wounded in Fierce Battles in Central Taiz

Taiz – Heavy fighting has erupted once more in the heart of Taiz city, leaving dozens dead and wounded as rival forces clashed across multiple frontlines.

Local military sources reported that intense battles broke out overnight between government troops and Houthi fighters, involving artillery exchanges and close‑quarters combat in densely populated neighborhoods.

The renewed escalation has caused significant civilian panic, with residents describing the sound of continuous shelling and gunfire echoing through the city.

Medical officials confirmed that hospitals in Taiz have received scores of casualties, though the exact toll remains fluid as clashes continue. Witnesses said several families were forced to flee their homes amid the violence.

The escalation in Taiz underscores the fragility of Yemen’s battlefield dynamics, where intermittent truces have repeatedly collapsed. Analysts warn that the resurgence of fighting in one of Yemen’s most contested urban centers could derail ongoing efforts to stabilize frontlines and revive peace talks.

Humanitarian agencies expressed concern that the renewed violence will worsen conditions for civilians already struggling with shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
