Position: Fixed Income and Money Market Trader (Balance Sheet Optimization)
Reports to: Head of Trading
Location: Head Office
Job Purpose
To
manage the bank’s fixed income and money market portfolio, ensuring
efficient deployment of funds, maintaining liquidity, and optimizing
returns on investments while managing interest rate and credit risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for statutory reserves.
• Manage intra-day cashflows and short-term funding for local currency clearing accounts and locally held foreign currency.
• Maintain adequate funds in nostro and clearing accounts, avoiding overdrafts and investing surpluses at optimal rates.
• Generate revenue through money market instruments and secure the best investment prices.
• Assist
  in planning future cash movements to ensure necessary liquidity and
  prepare forecast reports for the bank’s funding requirements.
• Review and ensure all money market borrowing and lending deals comply with liquidity regulations.

Candidate Requirements

• Strong economic and analytical background.
• ACI Dealing Certificate (mandatory).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Commerce, Banking and Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Kutchi, Gujrati, Spanish, French, or Chinese) is desirable.

Desired Candidate Profile
The
ideal candidate will possess a strong economic and analytical
background with expertise in relevant asset classes, interest rate
dynamics, and regulatory requirements. They should demonstrate sound
judgment in navigating market volatility and contribute to balance sheet
optimization strategies. An understanding of the local and
international financial services industry is an added advantage.
