EX-President Weah Mourns 30 Killed in Devastating Guinea Landslide | Obituaries

Former President George Manneh Weah has sent a Condolence Message to H.E. Mamady Doumbouya, President of the Republic of Guinea, the bereaved families, and the Government and people of the Republic of Guinea, following the tragic loss of at least Thirty (30) people in the Republic of Guinea.

In his Letter of Condolence addressed to President Doumbouya, Former President Weah extended profound condolences to President Doumbouya, his Government and the people of the Republic of Guinea, and especially to the bereaved and affected families on the tragic loss of at least Thirty (30) people, critical injury of Six (6) persons and destruction of several homes, as a result of a devastating landslide, which reportedly struck shortly after 02:00a.m. GMT on Sunday, August 24, 2026, in the Dar es Salem Community in Conakry, Republic of Guinea.

Former President Weah wished all the injured speedy recovery in the Name of God The Almighty, stressing that he shares in the grief of President Doumbouya, the bereaved and affected families, and the Guinean people as they mourn the loss during this difficult period.

 

Ex-President Weah expressed confidence that President Doumbouya, his Government and the people of Guinea will come out of this with renewed hope and strength, as President Doumbouya continues to work towards building a better Guinea for all.

“It is my fervent prayer and hope that you, your Government and the people of the Republic of Guinea, including, but not limited to the bereaved and affected families, in your usual resilience, will take solace in God The Almighty, as you go through this challenging national period of your existence”, Former President Weah concluded.
