TOKYO: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates, is visiting Japan from June 2 to 5 as a guest of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit centers on the third Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue with Japanese Foreign Minister MOTEGI Toshimitsu. Regarding the visit, Motegi stated at a press conference on Tuesday that Egypt is an important country in the mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. He noted that the visit is expected to contribute to regional peace and stability and further strengthen the friendly and cooperative relations between Japan and Egypt.
Diplomatic sources told Arab News Japan that Dr. Abdelatty intends to discuss collaborative efforts with Japan and other international partners to halt a war that has disrupted the global economy and caused many casualties. A central objective is to work toward ending the conflict related to Iran and the region, specifically focusing on the reopening of the Straits of Hormuz. Additionally, Dr. Abdelatty will share his firsthand perspectives on the delicate dynamics in the Gulf and the future of the Straits, while also working to deepen the bilateral partnership between Egypt and Japan.
Dr. Abdelatty is an experienced diplomat who has previously served as ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany, and represented Egypt to the EU and NATO.
