Eco Buildings holds government talks in Gambia over housing and manufacturing plans

Eco Buildings Group PLC (AIM:ECOB, FRA:9ZL0) has held talks with senior Gambian government ministers over the potential for large-scale housing delivery and local manufacturing in the country.

A delegation from the company visited The Gambia at the invitation of the Ministries of Interior and Defence, meeting directly with interior minister Abdoulie Sanyang and defence minister Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof.

Gabriel Coll, representing Lumen Holdings, also joined the delegation.

Discussions focused initially on housing for police and military personnel, with scope to expand into wider public-sector and social-housing programmes.

Eco Buildings said government representatives had expressed interest in its modern construction methods and in establishing local manufacturing capacity to support rapid delivery.

The talks also touched on a potential long-term role for the company in the country’s housing programme, along with local skills development and employment.

The company described the engagement as a significant step in its international growth strategy, with ambitions to build a manufacturing and delivery platform serving wider West African markets.

No contracts, orders or revenue commitments have been agreed, and any future programme remains subject to formal agreements, financing and regulatory approvals.

Eco Buildings, whose technology is based on glass fibre reinforced gypsum panel systems, said discussions were progressing and further updates would follow when appropriate.

Executive vice chairman Etrur Albani said the government’s ambition and clear focus on delivering better housing had been encouraging.

Albani said the company’s industrialised construction platform was designed to deliver rapidly and at a lower cost than conventional construction, while creating more environmentally responsible homes.

He said discussions had extended beyond individual building supply to include local manufacturing facilities, skills development and technology transfer.

Albani said the company was encouraged by the progress made and looked forward to updating shareholders as discussions advance.
