Tanzania has expressed its satisfaction and continued appreciation for the significant contributions made by the private sector in enhancing community welfare across the country.
This was confirmed by Prime Minister Dr. Majaliwa today, Friday (May 2, 2025), while representing President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the 100th anniversary and the 100th meeting of Rotary International District 9214 for the Tanzania and Uganda region, held at The Super Dome conference hall in Masaki, Dar es Salaam.
‘Our government is committed to fostering genuine collaboration with all Rotarians so that together we can continue to promote the welfare of Tanzania.’ he said .
He added that the substantial efforts made by the Rotary Club have helped improve the living conditions of those in need in the health, water, and education sectors.
He highlighted their initiatives, which include drilling wells in rural areas, providing furniture, renovating schools, and equipping health facilities.
Also, the Prime Minister mentioned that recently, President Dr. Samia was awarded ‘The Gates Goalkeepers Award’ for the significant outcomes achieved under her leadership, including an 80% reduction in maternal mortality.
‘Moreover, during President Dr. Samia’s administration, the government has significantly increased funding for health services, improved access to medicines and medical supplies, and constructed over 530 delivery centers to reduce maternal deaths, neonatal deaths, and deaths of children under five years old.’
Additionally, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Daniel Sillo, acknowledged the substantial efforts made by Rotary in the country. ‘However, I remind you of the importance of adhering to the registration requirements set by the registrar of community organizations.’ The private sector continues to contribute to development by enhancing community welfare and bringing about significant changes in health service delivery.
