DR Congo universal service fund agrees to subsidise operators for first 40 sites

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has begun its universal connectivity programme by deploying mobile network infrastructure in 40 rural and peri-urban locations, Bankable reported. On 08 August, the Universal Service Development Fund (FDSU) signed subsidy agreements with Airtel, Orange, Vodacom and Africell to extend mobile network coverage at the underserved localities, with each operator managing ten sites.
