Congo. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the number of Ebola infected has exceeded 7 thousand, while the number of deaths from it has reached about 3 thousand 4 hundred.

According to the latest government health status report released on Friday, 7,022 people have been confirmed infected as of September 10. 3,398 people have died from the infection, while 1,671 people have recovered after treatment.

According to current data, the death rate among infected people is 48.4 percent. The Ebola outbreak has spread to 62 health zones in seven provinces of Congo. According to local officials, one person has also been confirmed infected in Sud-Ubangi province, making it the latest affected area.

The infection confirmed in Sud-Ubangi was seen in a 23-year-old man who had traveled from South Kivu province. Local officials said that the infected person later died.

Sud-Ubangi does not share a border with the six provinces where infection was previously confirmed. These provinces include Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uele, Choppo, and Bas-Uele.

The current Ebola outbreak, announced in May, has become the largest and deadliest in Congo’s history. Globally, it has become the second-largest outbreak after the Ebola outbreak that spread in West Africa from 2014 to 2016.
