Dakar 2026 Flame Tour: the full route

Africa is set to experience a historic moment. The Flame of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will arrive in Senegal on 12 September. 

Dakar, the country’s capital, is one of the host cities of the first Olympic sporting event to be held in Africa, alongside Saly and Diamniadio. The Dakar 2026 Olympic Flame will then travel across the country, bringing the spirit and values of the Youth Olympic Games to communities throughout Senegal.

Which cities will host stops on Dakar 2026 Flame Tour?

From 29 September, the Dakar 2026 Olympic Flame will set off on a major national tour across Senegal, visiting all 14 regions of the country. From Thiès to Kédougou and from Saint-Louis to Ziguinchor, each stop will offer an opportunity to bring the spirit of the Youth Olympic Games closer to local communities.

A celebration at the heart of local communities

More than a journey, the Dakar 2026 Olympic Flame Tour will be a major celebration bringing together young people, families, communities and local stakeholders around the Olympic values. 

The tour will also showcase Senegal’s rich heritage. The Flame will visit historic landmarks, monuments and iconic sites that reflect the country’s cultural diversity and heritage. 

Schools will play a central role throughout the tour. At every stop, the Flame Tour will be an opportunity for young people to come together, discover, share and learn about sport and the values of Olympism. 

The final stop before the Opening Ceremony

After several weeks travelling across Senegal, the Olympic Flame Tour will conclude on 30 October, on the eve of the Dakar 2026 Opening Ceremony. The following day, 31 October, the Flame will take on a new significance. 

It will light the Olympic cauldron at Abdoulaye Wade Stadium during the Opening Ceremony, officially marking the start of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. 

The Flame will then remain lit throughout the Games, until 13 November.
