Cuban Rhythms Power Jazz Loft at Southampton Concert Aug. 27

The Jazz Loft @ Southampton Concert Series continues Thursday, August 27, with All Heart at the Avram Theater at Stony Brook Southampton, as Carlos Jiménez and Mambo Dulcet bring the spirit of Cuba to the East End.

This high-energy Cuban descarga celebrates the music of legendary Latin jazz icons including Tito Puente, Arsenio Rodríguez, Ray Barretto, La Lupe, Celia Cruz, Mongo Santamaría, Israel “Cachao” López and José Fajardo. From infectious mambo and salsa grooves to powerful improvisation, the band delivers an exhilarating tribute to the artists who shaped Afro-Cuban music.

Held in collaboration with The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook and curated by Stony Brook University Professor Thomas Manuel — The Jazz Loft’s founder and Stony Brook University Endowed Artist in Residence — the series is a celebration of creativity, history and artistry. It explores various facets of jazz music, with each performance offering a unique experience.
