Cuba accuses US of humanitarian consequences of sanctions
Cuba accused the United States of causing devastating humanitarian consequences through economic sanctions and pressure on the country’s foreign trade. Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez made the statement, according to Anadolu Agency.
Havana’s statements on trade restrictions
According to Rodríguez, threats, pressure and blackmail by the United States are hindering Cuba’s foreign trade. He also stated that Washington had tightened the economic blockade by restricting energy supplies and imposing secondary sanctions.
Cuban authorities believe these measures are worsening shortages of fuel, food and medicines. Havana also accuses the United States of pressuring foreign companies that maintain economic ties with Cuba through the threat of secondary sanctions.

Energy and economic crisis
According to the Cuban side, fuel shortages have caused prolonged power outages across the island and affected public transport, healthcare, agriculture and water supply. Cuba is experiencing one of its most severe economic and energy crises in recent decades, facing fuel shortages, blackouts and limited access to essential goods.
Cuban officials are calling on other countries to oppose unilateral sanctions and provide international support to overcome the crisis. Washington, for its part, defends its policy of pressure on Havana, saying it seeks to encourage the Cuban government to make political and economic changes.
The United States has maintained a broad economic embargo against Cuba for decades, although the scope and application of this policy have varied under different administrations. Cuba calls for US sanctions to be lifted and for economic relations to be normalized.
