climate change by Michael Mtemwa.

Destruction of environment due to human activities .

My world is hard to read,

And the words don’t show up on the page,

But I can easily see the wonders,

My world! My world!

Everywhere you hear disasters,

Day and night,

Why is this happening?

The rope of my world is long,

Stretching across the entire globe,

And everyone pulls on it to hold on tight,

But some people cut it, causing earthquakes.

Will education win? Will voices be heard?

The circle is calm, but it shakes when people break the shell of an egg,

I care my world like it’s an egg,

So I can harvest clean and peaceful results.

My world is my egg,

I must protect and care for it,

So plants and animals don’t suffer,

They should stay in a clean and peaceful space,

And light should fill the gaps of darkness,

The night isn’t over yet,

But when I wake up, I’ll finish in the morning.

A poem about climate change talks about how harmful human activities are causing problems in the world, like earthquakes, droughts, and wildfires. Even though we have knowledge and voices to speak out, these issues keep happening. In the third stanza, the poet asks,

“Will knowledge win? Will our voices be heard?

The world seems calm, but it shakes when people break down their own walls.

I care for my world like it’s an egg,

So I can have clean and peaceful harvests.”

The poet is trying to show us that even with education and awareness, we still need to learn more to tackle climate change effectively. We should continue to protect our environment and seek more knowledge so we can live in harmony. The message from the creator is clear: “Let us multiply and fill the earth, not destroy it.”

The world is our home, and when we harm it, we put ourselves in danger. The poet reminds us to hold onto the light so we can see what’s happening in the dark and make better choices. By doing this, we can live in a clean and peaceful world.
