CDS calls for stronger military-civilian collaboration

Gomez made this call at the first day of the second leg of the nationwide tour of military deployments in the country. Speaking to civilians at a meeting held at the Kanilai 4th Battalion, held on Monday, 14th September 2026.

CDS Gomez continued his peace message after recently touring various regions where he interacted and conversed with several troops and various community leaders, calling for citizens to embrace nationalism over tribalism.

As The Gambia approaches its Presidential race, he urged them to see the nation first, than any tribe, emphasing that without peace, there will be no meaningful development.

After a one week break, CDS Gomez continues the annual Military nationwide tour with high emphasis on the significance of fostering stronger collaboration in a drive to collectively achieve national development.

Responding to concerns raised by Kanilai residents which touched on various areas, including border issues, CDS Gomez explained that there is a border Commission established to effectively handle the current border disputes along some areas of The Gambia and Senegal border, while he urged surrounding communities to exercise patience.

Highlighting on other points raised, he assured that upon return from his tour, all concerns raised including healthcare facility, road among others,  will be forwarded to the high command for effective redress.

The purpose of the tour was for the CDS to articulate his vision as well as have an interface and direct dialogue with troops under command in order to gather first-hand information regarding their working and living conditions. 

The tour continues to give  opportunity for the CDS to equally meet representatives of Sister Security Services, community and religious leaders as well as relevant stakeholders to constructively engage them on the need to maintain and sustain peace.
